Disney has just designed a new line of toys that will bring a whole new meaning to the iPad. They call it the “Disney Appmates” and they intend it to be a series of interactive games that will enhance the experience of playing with real toys.
The first game that will be released is taken from the animated film Cars 2 and will be sold in App Stores. Get ready Mums and Dads 6 year old are about to have a new obsession. The kids will be able to place the actual car toy on the iPad’s screen and automatically bond with the game via the touch screen. In the same way Disney intends to do the same with a line of popular movie titles.
AllThingsD showed us a preview they got of how the game will work, they were quoted:
“As Decrem moved the toy car across the screen, the game reacted: Cars skidded out in the mud, knocked over buildings and honked their horns, startling tractor-shaped cows.
Let’s see the Amazing Video below :
The game is supposed to react precisely to a player’s movements, and during Decrem’s short demonstration it did, for the most part. For example, as he approached a mirror in the game, he was able to see the reflection of the car he was holding.”
We have heard that the game is intended to be directed at boys around the age of six who like knocking things over. Disney intends to sell the actual 2 per a pack of two, selling at $20, while giving the actual App for free. We hear that the games will be launched in App Stores on the 1st of October.
Reports say that Disney does not only intend on produced Appmates but also other products for Apple devices. These include a Cars-themed iPad case selling at $50, a Disney Pix Camera for the iPhone and iPad selling at $80, and a microphone for karaoke to popular Disney tunes selling at $60 for the wired product and $100 for the wireless.
This idea has interested SmashiPhone very much as it is relatively new to use a physical toy with a virtual game and we can’t wait for it to be launched.
