We have all been following the iPhone 4S since it was announces at the Lets Talk iPhone event earlier this month. A lot of you must be thinking of whether you will be able to jailbreak the iPhone 4S on iOS 5 untethered or tethered. This is what we are going to discuss.
The iOS 5 GM was released on the 4th of October during the Lets Talk iPhone event. The official launch for the iOS 5 will be on the 12th of October 2011 and it will be available for all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch customers.
As we have mentioned in many posted the iPhone 4S will have the A5 processor which is used in the iPad 2 and therefore we already know how to jailbreak it using the Comex’s JailbreakMe 3.0 userland tool. The A5 devices can be only jailbroken till iOS 4.3.3.
The logical question here is why does JailbreakMe 3.0 not jailbreak firmwares higher than iOS 4.3.3?? Well the reason for that is that JailbreakMe is a userland jailbreak this mean that it can be patched by Apple in the next iOS firmwares. Therefore it will only jailbreak the older iOS only and not the new softwares.
An announcement has been made by the Chronic Dev Team earlier that they have 5 userland jailbreak exploits. This basically means that they have the jailbreak ready for the iOS 5 and the four software updates that will come after it. Good to know right?
These 5 exploits are all untethered jailbreaks and therefore will be available on all iOS 5 devices.
There is also another possibility to jailbreak your iPhone and that we heard from the popular iPhone hacker Geohot, as he has his own exploits which he is saving for the newer iPhones that have not yet been released. This way you may not need to userland jailbreak and get you iPhone jailbreak forever. Also interesting.
All we need to do now is just sit and wait!
