Sony recently rolled out a new version Xperia Transfer software, which is essentially a PC app that allows for the seamless transfer of iPhone contacts and saved data to Xperia handsets.
With “platform converts” or “platform shifters” now gaining traction as a growing buying power base, word of brands offering a convenient means for platform shifters to shift from one OS base to another doesn’t come as strange.
The new Xperia Transfter software works with various Android-based Xperia handsets, including the Xperia V, Xperia VC, Xperia TC, Xperia T, Xperia TL and the waterproof, shockproof and dustproof Xperia Z.
It essentially allows for the easy export of pertinent mobile phone data like stored contacts, messages and saved calendar data, along with bookmarks, music, notes and other stored information.
By far, Sony isn’t the only brand “courting” Apple platform shifters their way, with HTC also offering their own mobile phone data content management suite. Samsung also has its own data content management equivalent, but Samsung’s case is largely viewed as different, considering that it is the current leader in the mobile industry segment.
Given that mobile phone platforms bear huge differences with how their content and data is stored, let alone the file systems they utilize, the availability of data content suites like Sony’s Xperia Transfer and Samsung’s Sync Manager prove to be an effective means of “courting” platform shifters.
What say you iDevice user? Think Sony’s on the right track by rolling out its new Xperia Transfer software? Will it actually be enough to convince you to move to the ‘droid?
