We know that Apple has announced that they will start selling the unlocked iPhone 4S in the U.S. in November the earliest. We have now learned otherwise. Apple Stores in the U.S. have indeed started to sell unlocked contract-free iPhone 4S.
9to5Mac confirm this news as they claim that their developer Steven Troughton-Smith, whom we posted about yesterday in regards of using Siri with the iPhone 4, was able to purchase an unlocked contract-free iPhone 4S.
When buying the unlocked iPhone 4S users can then activate the contract-free iPhone by just plugging the device into iTunes. Once the user has plugged it into iTunes the above message will appear. If you are thinking of getting your hands on one of these contract-free iPhones they are now being sold only in the United States (as no confirmation that they are being sold any where else has yet been sent) and they are at a price of $649, $749, and $849 for 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, respectively.
Hope this is good news for everyone.
