Every had trouble opening your gmail on your iPhone and wished for a Gmail app that would make your life just that much easier. Well you might not have to wait much for something like that to come your way.
We have seen claims that were made by MG Siegler that state,
“Google is on the verge of launching their native Gmail app”
We expect that they may have already give it to Apple for review before the launch. Although we currently have a good web version of Gmail for the iPhone that is provided by Google, and also the iOS inbuilt Mail app in the iPhone. We still we looking forward to a fully native Gmail app on iOS.
Both Siegler and users of the Android Gmail app have commented that the app is pretty amazing and one of the main reasons iPhone users have been pushing for this app is the email notifications.
The native Gmail app will likely bring other key functionality as well: like Priority Inbox and one-click starring of messages. Other possibilities include some of the stuff Google is about to roll out for Gmail proper: like contact icons, better threading, and deep searching functionality. Maybe there will even be some Google+ integration, which Google is also hard at work on for Gmail.
The only question now is whether Apple will approve of the app or not. We ask this as they have rejected email apps in the past as they would compete with the native Mail app. Siegler believes that Apple will most likely approve of this app, however this could mean that we will be seeing other third party Mail apps on iOS.
