Apple is third, Nokia is second, Samsung is first

It’s no secret that mobile brands are at constant war with each other, with each brand vying for top positions in any chart ranking, often initiated by various organizations, business investment firms and industry watchguards.

With electronic consumers being the kingmakers of the day, brands are constantly innovating product highlights, in an effort to lead consumers into backing their showcase items.

How top contenders are deemed, remains to be a variable title.

Where is Samsung?

In the realm of electronic gadgets for consumers, the fact that brands sub-contract other brands in the creation of certain parts for certain product offerings isn’t really a big secret.

For Apple’s next iPhone, word has it that three developers of LCD screens are gearing up on the production of 4” screens, to start building them as early as June this year.

Japan Display Inc, Sharp and LG display have been tapped by Apple in churning out a bigger, brighter screen for the next iPhone installment, with reports based on a Reuters story.

The story’s details matches with the report of an earlier released Wall Street Journal report, which talks about how Apple has initiated the production orders of 4 inch sized screens to be-used in the construction of the new iPhone.

Many aren’t all that surprised to hear about the aforementioned rumors, but are rather questioning the absence of a name within the list of LCD suppliers – Where is Samsung?

iPhone orders “significantly” going down?

With Apple’s intent in launching the newest iPhone incarnation this year – the sixth of the series – reports pertaining to the “significant” downtrend of current iPhone model orders have been ongoing.

According to Apple Insider, analysts have noted reduced shipping orders of the current iPhone, reduced by roughly 20 to 25%. The estimates are based on March’s stats this year, which yielded to 35.1 million units.

Based on the same statistics, if trend analytics do go on as forecasted, iPhone figures would rake in an estimated 26 to 28 million units come this June. The figure would stand against Wall Street consensuses, which indicate a 30 to 31 million iPhone unit figures.

The Nokia-Microsoft collaboration that is the Lumia recently came out, standing up as Nokia and Microsoft’s answer to the models and featured software/OSes sported by the two brand’s respective competitors.

Boasting the combined hardware experience of Nokia and Microsoft’s understanding of software bits for mobiles, it is too soon to tell if the Lumia does stand to be the next industry dominator, given its relatively new entry into the game.

But a number of “confrontations” have been ongoing, between the Lumia and its competition.

Battery Cases for the iPhone 4

Let’s face it. The iPhone 4S may be a fully-featured internet capable mobile, but its battery life is one which leaves many high and dry, especially after an engaging session of posting comments and browsing friend updates on Facebook, or taking the time to watch a series of videos on YouTube.

However, a relatively easy fix for the iPhone’s battery weakness can be found with the use of “battery cases”, iPhone cases which are rigged with an extra rechargeable battery pack within.

iPad Mini?

With reports indicating a lowering trend in App Store sales in the 1st quarter of 2012, talk about how Apple’s mobiles are loosing followers is piling up, with most discussions talking about the practical sides of its competitor gadgets (mostly pointing out Android-driven mobiles), bringing up the age-long price VS practicality battle of gadgets for electronic consumers.

However, Apple is reportedly working on a new tab option, a scaled down version of its iPad, dubbed the “iPad Mini”, one which offers reasonable price features and the trademark Apple system and design ethos, inside and out.

iPhone would have been good not great without Steve Jobs

Throughout iPhone’s history, Steve Jobs has been enthusiastic about selling it. When Jobs spoke at an Apple keynote you could tell he had real enthusiasm about his products. He was genuinely excited to see how his products would shape the tech world. Seeing the recent Galaxy S3 announcement made me appreciate how much of an asset Steve was to Apple.

The S3 announcement was the worst I’ve seen in a while. Not only did the announcer not speak good English, it seemed rehearsed and awkward. Sure Apple’s keynotes were clearly rehearsed beforehand, but they did not sound like it. They flowed naturally and sounded as if Jobs was just speaking to us directly.
