Exactly a week a go we posted telling you about the new Semi-Tethered Jailbreak for the iOS 5. For those who do not remember it is a jailbreak that allows you to reboot your iOS 5 device and use it while you are away from your PC, however it was very limited, hence the ‘semi’. We also talked about the benefits of the semi-tethered jailbreak and the differences between it and the other types of jailbreak.
The main problem with the semi-tethered is that you could only call and text if you rebooted your device while away from your PC and it will remain that way until you preform a full tethered reboot. But if it would allow you to use your device normally that would make it an untethered jailbreak. Some users also have said that they have also faces problems while adding jailbreak widgets to iOS 5 notification center.
We knew that hacker were still working on the untethered jailbreak for the iOS 5 and we have a new update for you. It is called the SemiTehther 0.9.1. What does it add I hear you ask?
Well, it added quite a bit. This jailbreak, as its predecessor it allows you to use your iOS 5 device after booting while you are away from your PC, however, now you can access Safari and the Mail app once you do the reboot. Other things that the new semi-tethered jailbreak brings are, that it makes your device much more stable, it can patch safari and make it work with non-jailbreak reboot mode and finally it has an app to monitor the status of your semitether and reapply, to see it check cydia installs.
You may also be interested to know that the SemiTether 0.9.1 protects your iOS 5 notification center widgets and gives you the option to patch mobile safari so that it will work on the non-jailbreak reboot mode. However, some users have faces a problem with Mail.app and so BigBoss has said that he is currently looking into that problem.
We do recommend that you download the SemiTether 0.9.1 if you haven’t already done so, it is really worth it, and if you have let us know what you think. Follow the updates here.
